Attending Abel Prize 2026 as a participant.
Hello! I'm Ole Aamot, an independent Free Software developer working on audio, radio, recording and geospatial technologies for the GNOME desktop. My work combines GTK, GStreamer, XML, Internet radio, geolocation, digital audio recording, and open standards to build privacy-respecting software for musicians, journalists, broadcasters, researchers and Linux users. I have contributed to GNOME software for many years and continue to develop applications that demonstrate how Free Software can be used for communication, recording, music production and global radio.
Internet radio application for GNOME featuring worldwide stations, interactive maps, GTK integration and GStreamer playback.
Interactive radio discovery software for locating radio stations around the world using geographic information.
Open music recording studio for Linux supporting audio recording, collaboration and GarageJam XML.
Privacy-oriented voice communication and recording software built with GTK and GStreamer.
Location-aware audio recording software using GeoClue and multiple-location audio metadata.
Location-based search engine and APIs for discovering services, content and media.
Research project exploring movement-based search and spatial information retrieval on the World Wide Web.
Open DNS management software and JSON-based DNS infrastructure tools.
My goal is to develop Free Software that gives people complete control over their audio, communications and digital media. Through GNOME, GTK, open standards and open source collaboration, I work to build software that remains accessible, transparent and useful for everyone.
